Do you want to become a chef? With the Diploma in Professional Chef Practice Level 5 you will undertake a one year journey starting with basic cooking and food preparation, and continue on to develop the skills to tempt and delight the taste buds of diners in fine dining restaurants locally, nationally, and internationally.

Korey Field

Korey trained at Rotorua’s Waiariki Institute of Technology, and as a young chef he worked for hotels, including the Sheraton Rotorua Hotel and the THC Rotorua International Hotel. 

Prior to that, Korey was pastry chef at Huka Lodge, starting at the boutique riverside accommodation shortly before the Queen and Prince Philip were welcomed for a short stay on their New Zealand royal tour.

Most recently based at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, as group executive pastry chef overseeing Te Awa Winery, Kauri Cliffs Lodge in Northland and Queenstown’s recently-opened Matakauri Lodge.

Korey Field brings a wealth of experience and skills to his teaching role at the Eastern Institute of Technology.    As he points out:  “I have been an active competition chef, winning most things I have entered.”

Scholars Fully Licensed Training Restaurant

 Scholars Training Restaurant is an integral part of the Culinary Arts and Restaurant programmes at EIT.  Scholars is open to the public for lunches and dinners during the teaching semester providing cooking and waiting students with practical experience in a real and professional setting.

Specialist Facilities 

A purpose-built building houses a variety of specialist facilities, including modern, commercially-equipped kitchens, a fully licensed and opertional training restaurant “Scholars”, as well as general classrooms and administration offices.
